"Great year ahead for the band"

After a very successful 2009 we are now looking forward to a busy and rewarding 2010.

We have already completed out first engagements and last night had our first rehearsal of 2010.

In March the band is competing in the 3rd section of the Area contest having been promoted from January this year. We have high hopes for a good result at the contest and hope to maintain the great progress we have made in the last two years.

Our Corps of drums have gone from strength to strength under the leadership of Tony jackson and once again will be featuring with the band and independently.

From April to July we have some lovely concerts bookings, from Disley, knutsford, runcorn and widnes to Ellemere port and Cholmondley. June sees the band attend the annual Friday march contests which are one of the band's favourite events. As usual we will face very stiff competition but we hope to improve on the excellent record of deportment and playing prizes that we achieved in 2008 and 2009.

September sees the band and corps of drums travelling to a major European Music festival in Schlema, Germany. We are delighted to have been invited but the visit has only been made possible due to the generous contributions of the event organisers, band member contributions and revenue from contest and other earnings. We are really looking forward to representing our Force at such an event and fully intend to put on a great show.

The latter part of the year will be dominated by parades and concerts as part of remembrance and of course some wonderful carol concerts.

As we begin the new year we are also very pleased to announce that the band is to gain 3 new members. Jeanette Bond and Mark Bellis on Cornet with Gerry Moylan on second Euphonium. They are very welcome and we are sure they will enjoy being part of the band.
