Busy Weekend For The Band

The band were busy again this last weekend with the Corps of Drums leading the parade at the Sandbach Festival of Transport. The Corps were very much appreciated and followed the parade with a static performance.

Given that the Corps have only been fully reformed for just over 12 months it is a real credit to the members, especially Drum Sgt Tony Jackson, that the Corps are now able to lead parades independently of the full band.

At the same time that the Corps were in Sandbach, a group of players from the band performed for a couple in Frodsham to mark their 60th wedding anniversary. It was a lovely afternoon, Derek and Norma certainly got a surprise as they had no idea the band would be present.

It was a small and intimate concert on a beautifully sunny afternoon and was as rewarding for the band as it was for Derek, Norma and their guests. The band played a wide selection of music specially for the occasion ranging from Gilbert and Sullivan, Sea songs, to music from the 1940s.

The concert was not something the band would normally undertake, but this made it all the more special. In fact it all came about when the services of the band were offered as a prize in a Charity Auction for St Lukes Hospice.

That was over 12 months ago but we hope that we were worth waiting for!
