The Band of the Cheshire Constabulary was formed in 1967. In our history, we have performed at many prestigious venues, including numerous civil occasions, and the honour of playing at Royal events.
The corps of drums, led by Drum Major Tony Jackson appears at many of its
engagements. In common with the band members they attend in their free time
and come from all walks of life.
Drum Major-Band Sgt Tony Jackson
Tony's association with the Drum Corps began at the age of 11 when he joined Crewe Sea Cadets Corps.
This led to a career in the Armed Services with Tony joining the Army. A long career followed during in which he became a Regimental Specialist, specialising in deportment and parade etiquette.
Tony has been associated with the Cheshire Constabulary Band for many years and first became a member of the Corps of Drums when the band was under the directorship of Mr Charlie Holt.
He has spent over 32 years in uniform and still takes immense pride in his turnout and that of his colleagues. He became Drum Major of the band in 2008; he leads by example and is always on hand to school new members of the band in the art of drill and deportment. Tony is very proud to have been appointed Drum Major of the band and is proud to represent the Cheshire Constabulary.
There is some 70 years
combined military service within the corps which is reflected in the high
standard of turnout. All are proud to represent the Cheshire Constabulary.
In addition to its role with the main band the Corps is available to perform
in its own right at concerts and other venues.
